When Google's AI calls for a price, does your business give one?

What changed
People can now ask Google to call local businesses for them. In categories such as home repair, beauty and pet care, Google's AI phones businesses, asks about price and availability, and hands the person a written comparison. Google announced the U.S. rollout at I/O 2026.
45% of consumers used AI to find local businesses in early 2026, up from 6% a year earlier.
What the AI asks, and where calls fail
- It asks what the job would cost and when you could come.
- It does not leave a name or number, so a phone bot set up to collect a lead's contact details first can stall the call (Out of the Box Advisors).
- Businesses that tested it report that a missing price is noted in the comparison the customer sees, and that the AI turns to your website and Google Business Profile when a call goes unanswered (JobNimbus).
In calls tracked by Invoca, 26% went unanswered and 49% got no price. Home services refused most often: most calls to plumbers got no price.

- Yes. Google announced at I/O 2026 that people can ask it to call businesses on their behalf in categories such as home repair, beauty and pet care, rolling out to everyone in the U.S. this summer.
- Do I have to publish exact prices?
- No. A range, a service-call fee, or what drives the price up or down is usually enough to answer the question. You approve every figure before it is used.
- What does the free check cost?
- Nothing. The Legion team reads what is public about your business and sends you the results. There is no obligation.
- Will you call my business or change anything?

- How is this different from an AI receptionist?
